JOB DESCRIPTION

MDG is an R&D driven microbial cultivation and fermentation company. MDG provides bioaugmentation products and solutions for a multitude of industries. Microbial Discovery Group excels in new product innovation, customer focused manufacturing and technical support expertise.

The Maintenance Tech II/Lead position is responsible for coordinating all maintenance activities, including installing, inspecting, diagnosing and repairing equipment at the facility, working closely with Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment such as, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  3. Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and conduct necessary maintenance.
  4. Plan, organize and prioritize work schedules for routine, emergency and planned maintenance, workingclosely with Engineering
  5. Manage daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning duties as needed.
  6. Manage inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion
  7. Help establish and adhere to the Preventive Maintenance program
  8. Document all maintenance and repair activities using a web-based maintenance software
  9. Support for non-routine work hours
  10. Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS                                                                                              

Education/Training:
•   5> years of experience in installing and maintaining plant floor mechanical and
     electrical systems

Relevant Job Experience:
•   Experience leading and training teams
•   Manufacturing, fermentation, chemical or food/feed product operations experience
     highly desirable

Specialized Job/Technical Knowledge:
•   Experience with industrial equipment such as steam generators, refrigeration, and air  
      compressors
•   Knowledge of industrial components and instrumentation
•   Must be able to interpret and understand technical documents such as P&ID’s,
      Equipment Lists, Logic
Diagrams, and Schematics.
•   Knowledge of industrial computer systems, PLC’s, HMl’s, motor controls, and power
      technologies preferred
•    Knowledge of bioreactors, centrifuges, freeze dryer, spray dryer, rotary and ribbon blender, pin/comil mill operations is desired
  • PLC/HMI programming experience a bonus

•   Keen troubleshooting and analytical skills
•   Experience leading and training teams
•   Demonstrates proficient computer skills, especially with MS Office and CMMS
      applications
•   Demonstrates proficiency in basic math skills
•   Ability to complete projects within specified timelines
•   Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
•   Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
•   Ability to work as a part of inter and intra-departmental teams
•   Self-motivated. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
•   Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
•   Ability to work well with others

Quality and Food Safety:
•   Work closely with Quality Control (QC) Department to assure compliance with Good
      Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
•    Responsible for compliance with maintaining facility cleanliness, post maintenance cleaning,and preventative maintenance.
•   Responsible for accurate documentation on all records.

Typical Work Environment:
•   Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility
•   Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, heat and odors

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to lift 50 or more pounds periodically
•    Ability to work around chemicals including enzymes

Safety Requirements:
•    Follow all company safety procedures and safety regulations
